ZEFARM Ltd. was founded in 1995 on the grounds of company Sanitas based in Zenica. In the postwar period the company underwent through the process of privatization and in 2001 it changed the ownership structure becoming a 100% private company.

As a leader in its primary market (Zenica-Doboj Canton), ZEFARM Ltd. has excellent business relations with all the leading pharmaceutical producers and other pharmaceutical companies present in the entire region, especially with three major players: Bosnalijek Sarajevo, Pliva Zagreb and Hemofarm Vrsac.

In 2000, following its unique strategy of success, ZEFARM Ltd. is starting the process of developing its own distribution network by founding two retail medical institutions:

• Zeni-lijek Zenica and 
• Medica Kakanj.

Today, there are 19 pharmaceutical units under these two institutions (Zeni-lijek - 15 and Medica - 4), giving ZEFARM Ltd. approximately 35% share in the pharmaceutical market in Zenica-Doboj Canton, and making them the third largest Pharmacy Institution in the country.

All of the Pharmacy units are in the home canton and strategically placed near hospital, private clinics or family medical centers.
